Choosing your grain type:
Wheat
- Our shop’s grain of choice (my family has been using wheat for Therapy Packs for many generations!)
- Has a gentle and calming subtle scent (we do not add any oils, just pure wheat
- Holds both hot/ cold temperatures well
- Sustainably sourced (less than 2km away from our shop!)
- Wheat is a smaller grain so it form fits easily to your body. Ie: you don’t feel individual pieces of grain, it just feels like one gentle pressure.)
- Comes at a little bit of a lower price point (same great quality though!)
Peas
- Mainly purchased as an allergy/ intolerance friendly grain over wheat.(If you order a combination of wheat/ peas we always separate the two to keep it an allergy friendly option!)
- It does have excellent cold/ heat retention as the peas are 3x the size of a grain of wheat
- Has little to no scent
- The peas will feel like little beads in the pack
- Does come at a higher price point as we sort them by hand
Use & Care Guide
How to heat (using microwave)
Microwave use:
- Heating temperature varies greatly based on the microwave being used. Please use caution and test-warm your pack a few times so you can warm your pack with confidence. Starting as low as 30 seconds is recommended.
- Overheating your pack will cause damage to the grain.
- Please clean your microwave before heating your therapy pack.
How long do I warm it (microwave)
Microwave strength varies so much from machine to machine so the first two times you warm your Therapy Pack will be a test between your pack and your machine.
Important notes:
- Smaller packs are warmed for less time than larger packs.
- Laying your Therapy Pack flat in the microwave will help achieve a more even heat (as opposed to having it bunched up or in a stack)
Warming instructions by size:
1) The first time you warm your Therapy Pack, start with the following times and build up from there if more heat is necessary:
Bear: 20 seconds
Eye Mask: 15 seconds
Medium: 20 Seconds
Large: 45 seconds
Extra Large: 1 minute
Shoulder: 1 minute, 20 seconds.
2) Once you have tested the warming time slowly at different time increments, add those times up and then second time you warm your pack, warm it for the full amount of time in one microwave block. Then test your Therapy Pack, does it burn hot when placed on your skin, are there hot spots, etc. Adjust the time as necessary.
3) Moving forward you will be able to warm your Therapy Pack for the tested amount of time when with that particular microwave.
Noting that if you use a different microwave, you need to go back to the slowly warming/ time testing phase. And that each Therapy Pack size will have a different amount of warming time even if you use the same microwave.

How to heat (using oven)
Oven use:
- preheat oven to 120C (250 F).
- Wrap the Therapy pack in clean tinfoil
- Let heat for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove the pack from the oven, do a temperature test and either let it cool further or keep heating it until desired temperature.
- The tinfoil can be reused but must remain clean.
- Overheating your pack will cause damage to the grain.
How to use Cold
Cold: Store in a bag in the freezer.
- Storing your therapy pack in a bag will prevent your pack from absorbing freezer smells. Either plastic or silicone is highly recommended to extend the life of your therapy pack.
- If your Therapy pack is at room temperature, place in the freezer for 45 minutes to cool before use.
- If you used your Therapy Pack hot, let it cool to room temperature before placing it in the freezer.
Important Notes
Note:
- Therapy Packs are made with Canadian wheat (unless custom ordered with peas)
- Therapy Packs are not toys; parental guidance is recommended.
- Do not overheat. Warming your Therapy Pack in the microwave or oven too long may cause a fire.
- Therapy Packs are NOT washable - If they get wet, please throw them out.
- Covers are pre-shrunk and are machine washable.
